Griffin Benger has won the European Poker Tour Season 9 High Roller, taking the trophy, a Shamballa bracelet and the cash prize of €429,000 - all on his 28th Birthday. It is the largest live score of the Canadian player’s career, trumping his previous best by over half a million US dollars. He defeated 2013 APPT Seoul Main Event champion Aaron Lim heads-up to secure the prize.

Team Ivey's Benger first secured final table play before dominating proceedings three-handed, possessing over 70 per cent of the chips in play, knocking out team PokerStars Pro Max Lykov, who started the day as the chip leader, into third place.

Heads-up Benger kept Aaron Lim at arm’s length and took first place when he called Lim’s button raise King-Deuce with Queen-Jack. The flop fell QD, 10D, AS, meaning Lim had just three outs available to make a straight. The turn bricked and was followed by a KS on the river giving Griffin the straight the tournament win.
