BRITISH POKER PLAYER JAILED IN THE US

A former professional poker player has been jailed for 20 years after admitting killing his wife. Marcus Bebb-Jones, who won the Grosvenor Grand Prix for £90,000 in 2007, admitted second-degree murder and told the police that he killed his wife in a heat of passion.

His wife Sabrina was reported missing in 1997 and Bebb-Jones’s account of what happened changed many times. Having gone to Las Vegas to look for her Bebb-Jones’s son was found in a hotel room alone, whilst a day later Bebb-Jones was found in a different hotel room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

In 1998 Bebb-Jones and his son moved back to the UK and the case against him stagnated until Sabrina’s skull was found by a rancher in Colorado in 2004. In 2009 Bebb-Jones was arrested on charges of first degree murder, concealing death and domestic violence. He was extradited to the US in 2011 after losing an appeal and made a plea bargain, admitting murder in the second degree in exchange for a sentence of no more than 20 years.
